Miniature Earth

Before I go onto show you all a video - I'd like to first point out this article that is related the the Mocaca incident we discussed in class. The article goes on to talk about the You Tube-ification of politics, and I found it interesting basically because this is the new political arena!

This next video (go to this SITE and click on English, the video will play shortly). Though it is somewhat out of context of what we are talking about in class, I found it to be intriguing especially at the part that talks about computers and internet access. We are taking a class that is organized around new media platforms and how access to the internet and new technologies has drastically changed our political, social, economic and personal worlds. There's even a blog and a community committed to its cause - it's pretty cool and shocking so check it out!

I can't believe nobody else has commented on this. I seriously think that this is one of the better videos that I've watched on the web. Looking at how well it was put together as well as its simplicity!

Though I might be generalizing all of the people are in the top 10 richest people in the world. Though it might not feel like it, especially for college kids. It is amazing how far your money can go in different parts of the world though. There is just a different standard of living. Spend 30 days away from civilization camping and you can begin to understand what some of the world deals with.

I did that in Mexico sailing up the coast. Granted we had food and we had sleeping bags but we didn't have shelter and we had very limited food that got down to rice and spices on a day or two before we made it to the next area where food could be picked up. Even so I don't feel like I could ever know the reality of it. You can see it, photographers and journalists see it, but living it is something else entirely. Knowing that every day is going to be the same. Never ending struggle.
